Approved Electrician | Testing & PPM | East London | £46,000–£47,000 + Vehicle + Overtime EICR & Remedials | Long-Term Contracts | Enhanced Overtime | Training & Development An established Electrical & Security contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Approved Electrician to join its engineering team, working predominantly across East London and Greater London. This is a varied field-based position covering electrical testing and inspection, planned maintenance, fault finding, remedial works and smaller installations across an established portfolio of long-term client contracts. For an electrician who enjoys having variety rather than spending every day carrying out the same type of installation work, the role offers a strong mix of testing, maintenance and practical electrical work, together with the freedom to work independently while remaining part of an experienced wider team. The business has a longstanding presence within the London electrical-services market and works across commercial, public-sector and other operational environments where reliability, professional standards and quality of workmanship are essential. The successful candidate will also benefit from a company vehicle, enhanced-rate overtime, healthcare and continued technical training, providing both stability and the opportunity to increase overall earnings. The Opportunity You will work across a portfolio of planned and reactive electrical contracts, taking responsibility for testing, inspection, maintenance and associated remedial works. Your role will include: * Carrying out EICRs, electrical testing and inspection * Completing remedial works arising from testing and inspection * Delivering planned preventative maintenance and reactive fault finding * Undertaking smaller electrical installations, repairs and alterations * Testing, maintaining and repairing emergency lighting systems * Completing certification, job sheets and supporting documentation accurately * Participating in a shared call-out rota and occasional enhanced-rate evening or weekend work The workload is varied and gives you the opportunity to use the full breadth of your electrical experience rather than focusing exclusively on either installation or maintenance. About You We are looking for an experienced electrician who is already confident carrying out testing and inspection independently. You should have: * At least five years’ relevant electrical installation, maintenance or testing experience * NVQ Level 3 Electrical qualification through an apprenticeship or equivalent route * 18th Edition qualification including current amendments * City & Guilds 2391 Inspection & Testing qualification or recognised equivalent * Current ECS card * Strong knowledge of EICRs, fault finding, remedials and electrical certification * Full UK driving licence Experience within planned maintenance contracts, commercial environments or critical and sensitive buildings would be particularly useful. You should be comfortable working independently, dealing professionally with clients and building users, and maintaining accurate records and certification without constant supervision.
