Functional Skills Maths Tutor - Wigan Location: Wigan Hours: 5-15 hours per week Start Date: September 2026 Duration: Ongoing Prospero Teaching are seeking a dedicated Functional Skills Maths Tutor to provide individual tuition to a learner in Wigan. This opportunity is ideal for a tutor who can deliver practical, accessible Maths support and help a learner overcome gaps in their numeracy skills. Your Responsibilities Deliver tailored 1:1 Functional Skills Maths sessions Establish the learner's current level and priorities Plan lessons around individual targets Develop numeracy and problem-solving skills Break down mathematical concepts into manageable steps Adapt sessions based on progress Encourage confidence and independent learning Provide feedback on learner development Requirements Experience teaching or tutoring Maths Functional Skills experience desirable Strong mathematical subject knowledge Previous experience working with young people Patient and adaptable teaching approach QTS, PGCE or relevant tutoring experience desirable Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one Right to Work in the UK Two professional references Prospero Teaching is acting as an employment business and education recruitment agency in relation to this vacancy
