Private Sector Housing Officer Surrey £50-£55 per hour 6-month initial contract Park Avenue Recruitment are working with a Local Authority in Surrey who are looking for an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer to join their team on an initial 6-month contract. The role will have a particular focus on HMOs and unlicensed properties, carrying out inspections, investigating potential breaches and taking appropriate enforcement action where required. The role will include: Carrying out inspections of HMOs and other privately rented properties Investigating unlicensed HMOs and suspected licensing breaches Undertaking HHSRS inspections and identifying Category 1 and Category 2 hazards Investigating complaints relating to housing conditions, disrepair and poor property standards Preparing and serving statutory notices under relevant housing legislation Taking enforcement action against landlords and managing agents where appropriate Supporting HMO licensing investigations and applications Gathering evidence and maintaining detailed case files Preparing cases for civil penalties, prosecutions and Tribunal proceedings Liaising with landlords, tenants, letting agents and other internal or external partners Ensuring properties meet required standards under the Housing Act 2004 and associated legislation We're looking for: Strong Local Authority Private Sector Housing / Housing Enforcement experience Good working knowledge of HMOs, HMO licensing and enforcement Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 2004 and HHSRS Confidence carrying out inspections and managing enforcement cases independently Experience serving notices and progressing cases through formal enforcement where necessaryThe position is paying £50-£55 per hour on an initial 6-month contract, with free parking available for officers attending site/the office.
