School Caretaker – Manchester Location: Manchester Role: School Caretaker Contract: Full-time / Temporary, with potential for long-term opportunities Start Date: ASAP Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience Engage Education are currently recruiting for a reliable, proactive and hands-on School Caretaker to join a welcoming school in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced caretaker, facilities assistant or maintenance professional looking to work within a school environment and play an important role in keeping the site safe, secure and well maintained. The Role As a School Caretaker, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day maintenance and smooth running of the school premises. Your responsibilities will include: * Ensuring the school buildings and grounds are safe, clean and secure. * Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs. * Completing regular checks of the site, including doors, windows, lighting and facilities. * Opening and locking the school premises as required. * Setting up and moving furniture and equipment for school activities. * Managing deliveries and contractors attending the site. * Reporting maintenance issues and arranging repairs where necessary. * Supporting health and safety procedures across the school. * Maintaining outdoor areas and ensuring the grounds are presentable. * Assisting with emergency procedures and site security. * Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and safety checks. * Working closely with the Senior Leadership Team and school staff. About You We're looking for someone who is: * Reliable, practical and hardworking. * Confident carrying out general maintenance and repairs. * Organised and able to prioritise tasks effectively. * Proactive and able to work independently. * Friendly and professional when dealing with staff, pupils, parents and contractors. * A good communicator and team player. * Committed to maintaining a safe environment for children and staff. * Flexible and willing to respond to the changing needs of the school. Previous experience as a school caretaker, site manager, facilities assistant, maintenance operative or similar role would be advantageous. Knowledge of health & safety, safeguarding and school site procedures is desirable.
