Social Worker – Children & Families Location: Birmingham, West Midlands Pay Rate: £30.58 per hour (Umbrella) Contract: Temporary / Locum Service Area: Children’s Social Care About the Role We are currently recruiting for an experienced Social Worker to join a Children’s Social Care service in Birmingham, West Midlands. The successful candidate will manage a complex caseload of children and young people, ensuring their welfare and safety remain at the centre of all decision-making. You will undertake assessments, develop and review care plans, work closely with partner agencies, and ensure statutory responsibilities are met to a high professional standard. Key Responsibilities * Manage a complex caseload of children and young people, ensuring statutory and legislative requirements are met. * Undertake comprehensive assessments and critically analyse information to identify risks, needs and appropriate interventions. * Safeguard and promote the welfare, safety and wellbeing of children and young people. * Develop, implement, monitor and review effective child-in-need, child protection and care plans. * Work collaboratively with children, young people, families and multi-agency partners. * Ensure children and young people's wishes, feelings and needs are central to planning and decision-making. * Attend and contribute effectively to multi-agency meetings, reviews, conferences, panels and other relevant forums. * Prepare and present high-quality reports for conferences, panels and court proceedings. * Maintain accurate, timely and evidence-based case records in accordance with statutory and organisational requirements. * Liaise with professionals and external agencies to ensure a coordinated and joined-up approach to supporting children and families. * Communicate effectively with children, families, colleagues and partner agencies through written, verbal and other appropriate methods. * Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, policies, procedures, court rules and social work best practice. * Participate in reflective practice, supervision, team meetings and ongoing professional development. * Work in accordance with the Professional Capability Framework and Social Work England's professional standards and requirements. * Support the Team Manager and wider service by undertaking other appropriate duties in line with the needs of the service. About You We are looking for a dedicated Social Worker who has: A recognised Social Work qualification. Current registration with Social Work England. Experience working with children, young people and families within a statutory social care setting. Experience managing a complex caseload. Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures. The ability to undertake thorough assessments and formulate effective intervention plans. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Experience working effectively with multi-agency professionals. The ability to produce high-quality, evidence-based reports and case records. Strong organisational and time-management skills. A commitment to promoting positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people. A reflective and accountable approach to professional practice.
