Job Title: Metal Dresser Location: Ferryhill Salary: £15.25 per hour (including shift allowance) + Overtime Working Hours: 38.5 hours per week on a rotating two-shift pattern: Early Shift: Monday–Thursday, 6:00am–2:30pm; Friday, 6:00am–12:30pm Late Shift: Monday–Thursday, 2:30pm–11:00pm; Friday, 12:30pm–7:00pm The successful candidate will complete their first-day induction on day shift before moving onto the two-shift rotation. The Company Theo James Recruitment is proud to be supporting Hydram Engineering in the search for an experienced Metal Dresser. Hydram Engineering is a leading manufacturing business based in Ferryhill, producing high-quality fabricated and manufactured components. This role provides an opportunity for an experienced Metal Dresser to join an established production team within a busy engineering environment. Job Description This Metal Dresser position involves finishing fabricated components to a high standard using a variety of hand and power tools. The majority of the work will involve dressing welds on components of different shapes and sizes in preparation for painting, with some components requiring a high-quality dressed finish as the final surface. * Dress and finish welds on fabricated components. * Work on components of varying shapes and sizes. * Use electric grinders, pneumatic grinders and pad sanding tools. * Prepare components to the required standard prior to painting. * Produce high-quality dressed finishes where components will remain unpainted. * Work through a variety of jobs independently. * Inspect your own work to ensure the required finish is achieved. * Follow relevant production and safety procedures. * Maintain a clean and organised working area. * Work as part of a small team while managing individual workloads independently. Skills & Experience * A minimum of 1 year's experience within a metal dressing or metal finishing environment. * Experience using electric grinders. * Experience using pneumatic grinders. * Experience using pad sanding tools. * Strong attention to detail and an understanding of high-quality surface finishes. * Ability to work effectively without close supervision. * Ability to manage different jobs independently. * Experience reading and understanding engineering drawings would be advantageous but is not essential. * Strong awareness of health and safety within a manufacturing environment.
