DENSO Marston Ltd, based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, is part of the global DENSO Corporation, one of the world’s leading automotive technology manufacturers. We design and manufacture high-performance heat exchange units and cooling modules for leading OEMs across the off-highway construction, engine power and agricultural sectors.  We’re looking for an experienced Buyer to join our Purchasing team. Reporting to the Purchasing Assistant Manager, you’ll take ownership of assigned commodities and suppliers, developing sourcing strategies that support business growth, cost competitiveness and supply-chain resilience. You’ll lead supplier negotiations, identify cost reduction and value improvement opportunities, and work closely with Engineering, Manufacturing and Supply Chain teams to support new product development and strategic sourcing activity.  Working Hours Monday – Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm Friday:                    8:30am – 1:30pm Flexibility to work from home one day per weekBenefits include: 25 days’ holiday plus statutory bank holidays Stakeholder Pension Scheme Life Assurance Hybrid working flexibility – one day per week from home (Monday to Thursday)Key Responsibilities Take ownership of assigned commodities and suppliers, developing sourcing strategies that support business growth, cost competitiveness and supply-chain resilience Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders Lead commercial supplier negotiations to achieve the best overall value across cost, quality, delivery and service Identify and implement cost reduction and value improvement opportunities Source, evaluate and develop suppliers to maintain a competitive and resilient supply base Support new product introductions, engineering changes and outsourcing activities Monitor supplier performance and drive corrective and continuous improvement activity where required Ensure continuity of supply and support the delivery of the company’s purchasing strategy Essential Experience & Qualifications More than five years’ experience working as a Buyer Previous experience within purchasing, procurement, category management or strategic sourcing in a direct procurement environment Proven track record of leading commercial supplier negotiations and delivering measurable cost reductions and value improvements Experience managing supplier performance across cost, quality, delivery and service, including driving corrective and continuous improvement activity Commercially focused, with the ability to understand cost drivers and identify opportunities to improve total cost and supply-chain resilience Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams Manufacturing or engineering sector experience would be advantageous CIPS qualification, working towards CIPS, or equivalent on-the-job experience is preferredRequired Skills Strong negotiation and commercial contracting skills Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder-management capability Effective communication skills with the ability to work across all levels of the organisation Strong focus on achieving best value and ongoing cost reduction Self-motivated, proactive and comfortable taking ownership and making decisions A collaborative approach with the ability to support and deliver change within a team environmentIf you’re looking for an opportunity to manage key suppliers, influence strategic sourcing decisions and deliver meaningful commercial improvements within a global manufacturing organisation, we’d love to hear from you
