Full job description Operations Manager | Construction & Project Delivery Oldham | £50,000–£61,000 | Permanent Office based, with some travel to sites across the UK Are you a commercially minded Operations Manager who can bring sales and project delivery together? This is an opportunity to take ownership of two important teams, improve how work moves from enquiry to completion, and make a visible impact on a growing business. I’m recruiting for an Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day performance of the Sales and office-based Project Management teams for a construction sector business in Oldham. You’ll be the link between sales, estimating and operations, making sure opportunities move forward, projects are handed over properly and customers receive what has been promised. You’ll also give the teams the structure and support they need, freeing up the Managing Director to focus on strategic customers and business growth. What you’ll be doing * Lead, coach and manage the Sales and Project Management teams, setting clear priorities and holding regular reviews. * Keep oversight of the sales pipeline, quotations, tenders and conversion rates, ensuring opportunities are followed up. * Make sure projects move smoothly from sales and estimating into delivery, with clear plans, budgets and responsibilities. * Monitor programmes, resources, costs, margins and variations, identifying risks early and helping teams resolve them. * Work closely with finance, engineering, service and commercial colleagues to improve communication and project performance. * Build strong customer relationships and step in when senior support is needed on major opportunities or project issues. * Provide the Managing Director with clear updates on sales, secured work, project performance and upcoming resource needs. What you’ll bring You’ll have management experience in construction, contracting, engineering, HVAC, shopfitting or a similar project-led environment, plus experience leading sales and/or project management teams. You’ll understand the full journey from customer enquiry and quotation through to installation and completion. You’ll be confident managing people, customers and competing priorities, with a good grasp of project costs, margins, variations and forecasting. Familiarity with CRM and project management systems, along with strong Excel skills, will help you succeed.
