SEMH Teaching Assistant - KS2 to KS4 Hemel Hempstead | Full-time | 8:30am - 4:00pm | Monday to Friday | ASAP Start Do you have a genuine passion for helping young people who may need additional support to succeed in education? We are looking for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join a specialist setting in Hemel Hempstead, supporting pupils with SEMH needs across KS2, KS3 and KS4. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference to young people's lives and help them develop academically, socially and emotionally. What You'll Be Doing As part of the school's support team, you will help pupils overcome barriers to learning and develop greater confidence and independence. The role will include: Supporting pupils during lessons and activities. Providing individual and small-group support. Helping students remain focused and engaged. Supporting pupils with emotional regulation. Responding calmly and appropriately to challenging behaviour. Encouraging positive choices and appropriate boundaries. Building strong and trusting relationships. Helping young people develop independence and self-confidence. Working alongside teachers and other members of the school team. Adjusting your communication and support style to meet individual needs. What We're Looking For You don't necessarily need previous SEN or SEMH experience. We're particularly interested in people with transferable skills and the right attitude. Your background could be in: Education or teaching support. Youth work. Sports coaching. Care or residential care. Mentoring. Community work. Other roles involving children, young people or vulnerable individuals. Most importantly, you will need to demonstrate: Patience and understanding. Resilience and emotional maturity. A calm and consistent approach. Reliability and commitment. Strong communication skills. The ability to build positive relationships. Professionalism and good boundaries. A genuine desire to support young people. A willingness to learn. Please Note This position involves working across two sites in Hemel Hempstead, so reliable access to transport is essential.
